Common Questions About Microneedling

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the use of tiny needles to stimulate the skin's natural healing processes.

In this microneedling FAQ, we aim to address common questions and concerns surrounding microneedling, empowering you with the knowledge to make informed decisions about incorporating this technique into your selfcare and skincare regimen.

Is Microneedling Like Acupuncture?

While both microneedling and acupuncture involve the use of tiny needles, they serve different purposes within the realm of TCM and are delivered very differently.

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that aims to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines, and enhance overall skin appearance.

This technique involves creating micro-injuries on the skin's surface to stimulate collagen production.

On the other hand, acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that focuses on promoting overall health and wellness by inserting needles at specific energy or anatomical points along the body's meridians.

While both procedures involve needles, they are distinct in their goals and applications.

Can You Do Microneedling Every Week?

The frequency of microneedling sessions can depend on various factors, including your skin type, the specific concerns being addressed, and the advice of a qualified skincare professional. Generally, it is not recommended to undergo microneedling too often, monthly is a common frequency.

Most skincare experts suggest allowing a few weeks between microneedling sessions to give your skin sufficient time to heal and regenerate collagen. Overdoing microneedling may lead to irritation, inflammation, or other adverse effects.

It's crucial to follow the guidance provided by your skincare professional who can assess your skin's condition and recommend an appropriate treatment schedule based on your individual needs.

We are a more is more society, but slow, steady, and consistent will reap you all the rewards. While microneedling isn’t recommended weekly, redlight therapy can be done much more frequently as part of your new and improved routine.

Microneedling vs Botox: Which One Is Better?

Botox focuses more on a short-term fix. It works by paralyzing the muscles in the face, allowing the body’s skin to smooth out wrinkles for a period of 3-6 months or so.

While Botox works for many people, it’s not a long-term solution for young, healthy skin.

Microneedling is natural and healthy for your skin and body. It’s completely holistic and helps to build up the collagen in the skin, the key ingredient for a youthful complexion, rather than “bandage the problem.” The results for microneedling are exponential and actually build up our collagen rather than just paralyzing the muscle.

How Long Is My Appointment?

Depending on which treatment you choose, the appointment will be anywhere from 45 minutes to 75 minutes. The most effective treatment consists of acupuncture, microneedling, and redlight therapy.

How Many Treatments Will It Take?

This varies depending on your skin concern (preventative, wrinkles, acne, dark spots…), but a general answer is 4-6 treatments and then maintenance. For more stubborn or complex conditions, it will be closer to 8-10 treatments and then maintenance. Your skincare routine at home, stress levels, and health habits impact the number of treatments it will take.

What Does the Treatment Consist Of?

There are different levels of treatments, but the most recommended treatment consists of acupuncture, redlight therapy, microneedling, and a nourishing mask. This is the recipe for success and you will see lasting results quicker.

Is Microneedling Scientifically Proven?

Yes. The amount of scientific literature about the benefits of microneedling is like a snowball turning into an avalanche!

There are many proven benefits, for your convenience, we’ve listed some of the scientific literature below:

Can Micro Needling Tighten Skin

Yes! These micro-injuries stimulate the skin's natural healing response, triggering the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential proteins for maintaining skin firmness and elasticity.

As a result, microneedling can lead to improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and overall tightening of the skin.

It's important to note that while microneedling can produce noticeable improvements in skin tightness, multiple sessions are required to achieve optimal results.

Additionally, individual responses to the treatment may vary, so it's always best to consult with a qualified professional to determine the most suitable approach for your specific needs and desires.

Does Micro Needling Work for Stretch Marks

Microneedling can be a game-changer when it comes to tackling stretch marks. These micro-injuries stimulate your skin to kick into high gear with its natural healing process.

As your skin heals, it ramps up collagen and elastin production – those magical proteins that help keep your skin looking smooth and firm.

What does this mean for stretch marks? Well, it means microneedling can help fade their appearance by improving skin texture and elasticity.

It’s worth mentioning that micro needling isn’t the only factor that affects stretch marks, so results aren’t 100% guaranteed.

Diet, lifestyle, age, and many other factors also affect the healing or “not-healing” of stretch marks. Consequently, you can do a ton of micro needling, but you have to take care of the body’s constitution to be fully impactful.
